Florida alcoholic beverage licenses can be difficult for an individual or business to acquire. That is why Florida’s quota liquor license lottery draws thousands of applicants every year.

Last year, Florida offered a modest 35 alcoholic beverage licenses available in 19 Florida counties in its lottery. Applicants were able to apply between August 15, 2022 and September 28, 2022.

The drawing for the winners of the 2022 lottery is quickly approaching. Winners of the drawing will be given 45 days to apply for a license to sell beer, wine and liquor in their selected county. If you applied for a 2022 quota alcoholic beverage license last year, be sure to tune into the public drawing later this month.

Winners to be announced on September 25, 2023

The public drawing will occur on September 25, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. and can be viewed online through Florida DBPR’s website. Only the first 3,000 registered attendees may view the meeting, so be sure to plan ahead if you wish to attend.

A whopping 26,000 entries were received in 2022, all vying for the limited 35 licenses that are available. If you are not chosen as one of the lucky winners or did not apply for the 2022 drawing, you may wish to apply for the 2023 quota liquor license lottery, which is currently open for applications through October 4, 2023.

Even if you are not chosen as a winner, there are a variety of paths to receiving your Florida liquor license. Consult an experienced alcoholic beverage law firm to explore your options.
